Signing up for a new QQ account is very straightforward. No knowledge of Chinese is needed if you go to the QQ International site. You’ll find it here: http://www.imqq.com/
Once you have your account set up, basically that involves telling QQ who you are, your date of birth, a new password and confirming your email address, you can start looking for new friends. Each QQ account has a Qzone attached to it. A Qzone is where you share photos, stories, logs (blogs) with your friends. They can comment on your material and you can visit their zones to do the same. The Qzone is sort of a mini-Facebook.
Some QQ users spend a lot of time dressing up their zones. You can too but, first, you have to open it up. Once you log-in to QQ, click on the right icon, the one that looks like four mini computer screens, then click on the Qzone icon shown here:
Once you click on the Qzone icon, you’ll be taken to a page that is completely Chinese. Ah, your adventure begins. While the QQ chat window is in English, everything in your zone is in Chinese. Don’t worry, we’ve been using QQ for years and we’ll show you how to get around. This is what the first page looks like:
The English for the blurb under the words “JOIN US” reads like this:
Logging life bit by bit, photo sharing moments
Show their own individual tastes, and friends with idyllic
Independence not as good as the public Lele Lele, so what, just join the QQ space family! (at least that’s what Google translates it as).
If you click on the big blue box, the one that has QQ followed by two Chinese symbols, this is what you’ll see:
Basically, you name your zone (you can change it later), confirm your nickname, your sex, what calendar you want to use, your country of origin then a captcha (the BVQX thing). Lastly, signify that you have read the agreement by clicking the bar at the bottom. You’re set!
Next time we will add some photos to create an album. Stay tuned.
Thanks for reading!
When I open http://www.imqq.com/ there is notice 502 Bad Gateway. What should I do? Because I just can open from QQ china and I can’t read chinese character. Help me pls
QQ is the link we have. Works for us. The page is in Chinese. Go here: Download QQ in Chrome and translate the page. There is a series of links for the different versions, one of which is the International version. Good luck. Thanks for commenting.
Hi qq, I have a question about our application qq chat international. I use my oulook email to sign up for an qq account. But i’m worried that outlook email is my company email, if i resign, email will be deleted, so if my email is deleted, will my qq account still can be used or cannot
That’s a good question. Can you read Chinese? If you can or if you have a friend who can, scan your Qzone for the email settings. The problem that we have found is that Google translate doesn’t do the whole page, you have to copy most of the words and paste them into Google translate. So far, we haven’t found anywhere in the Qzone that lists a registered email. You could pretend to have forgotten your password and go through the verification process to see if there is somewhere that you can change your email preferences. It’s possible that you have to visit the Tencent site to change them. Check out this link, it might help: http://accountadm.qq.com/en/account/faq.shtml (copy and paste it into your browser.) Good luck! It seems easy to do but we can’t find out where you do it. Thanks for commenting.
How do I post on my own q-zone? I write a comment, attach a photo, press publish, but nothing happens?
Which area are you working in? The blog area or the update area? We just checked our setup and it works perfectly. Your status updates are locked but you can add photos to them. We don’t think it’s a problem with QQ. Perhaps it has something to do with your browser. If you’re using Google Chrome and have translated the page, that might be the problem. The links in translated pages usually do not work. You have to revert back to the original for the links to work. Good luck and thanks for commenting.
Yeah thanks, the problem seems to be with IE10, it is not as stable as it once was………I can post with Chrome(non-translation mode).
Glad it worked out for you. Thanks for letting us know the solution.
