Even though we don’t recommend doing this, you can link your WeChat account with a Facebook account. If you do, just remember that you can’t do much once the two accounts are linked. This may change but we think that as long as WeChat is based in China, Facebook will prevent it from accessing your friend list. Here’s how you set up the link:

At this point, there is no way to add your Facebook friends They can add you if they scan your QR code, same as on QQ but that’s about it. Right now, there is no way that we can see to add your Facebook friends to WeChat. If we find out how to do it, you’ll be the first to know.
Facebook is much more personal than WeChat, in our opinion. WeChat is fun, great for meeting people and tends to be more ‘open’ than Facebook. We think you should question whether you want to link the two social networking apps with one another. Once you do, you’re into a completely different privacy level. Facebook is much more invasive as far as your personal details are concerned. We’d advise you to think twice about linking, OK?

Hi , everyone, i think you probably donot know some social media is blocked in China, like facebook, twitter, youtube, snapchat, google ect. mailbox like hotmail, gmail, could be recognized as spam , that’s why you can’t get the code once changed the phone number or ID , i think the best way is , you get a QQ number, then connect with your wechat . I am from China, BTW.

Has Tencent been forced to tighten up their products? We’ve been using the International version of QQ for years but now we can’t seem to find it on the Tencent site. None of the links work. We can’t find where you can link Facebook to WeChat. When did you link the two accounts? If you can’t find the unlink section in WeChat, go to Facebook and remove any permissions that you’ve given WeChat. Once you’ve cleared that up, it won’t matter if you’ve linked Facebook to WeChat. We’re not sure how you add an official account. Comment again with the name of that account, we won’t publish it, and we’ll check to see if we can add it to one of our accounts. It’s still an active account. Are you trying to add it as a regular contact? You have to add it as an official account. We found it but didn’t add it. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t work for you. Did you block that account by accident? Maybe they blocked you for some reason. Did you interact with them in any way? Check your block list.

Looks like you’ll have to start a new WeChat account. If your current account is linked to one number, you have to link an email account to it first, then unlink that phone number. Only then can you link your new number. Since that doesn’t seem to be working, just start a new account. If you can access your old account, copy all of your contacts then move them to your new one. Yes, we had that show up too. The reason is that we tried to link that number with another WeChat account. As soon as we did that, WeChat locked the original account. That was about a week or more ago. Today we found that we could unlink the number and then link it again. It worked perfectly. Good luck.
This is a bit difficult to explain but we’ll try our best. You cannot unlink your phone number unless you have a linked email account or a linked QQ account. That’s what we have discovered in our situation. If you try to link your phone number with another WeChat account, you cannot unlink that number from your original, linked WeChat account. WeChat locks down your old account temporarily. We know because we just did that ourselves. If you have tried to link your phone number to a new WeChat account, leave it for a week or so. At that point, try to unlink the number (use the three dots up on the top right of your screen when you see your linked phone number in Account Protection). i could not link my email with my wechat.. i have already set my wechat id and link it with my phone no.. but when i try to link it with my email it failed and state that unable to send the verification email.
You can’t link a phone number or email account unless you have ‘unlinked’ whatever phone number or email account is already linked with WeChat. Other than that, make sure that you have typed in the correct email address. WeChat is telling you that it can’t send the email, right? Something must be wrong with the address. This is unfortunately not helpful at all. I have the same issue. My email is ‘not linked’. I am trying to link my email to my account, I have verified many times that the email is correct, but for whatever reason I get this error message (no matter what email I try) “Unable to send verification email. Try again”. I don’t get it.
Not helpful at all? Really? Because it doesn’t work for you then it’s not helpful? The process isn’t rocket science. Think about it. It’s not Wechat that can’t send the verification email. Either it’s your phone or mobile device that can’t access WiFi or your mobile network or the email you are trying to link is already in use with another WeChat account. We know the process works, we just did it twice. If you aren’t using a mobile device, you might be trying to use Bluestacks or something similar. That’s where the problem is, perhaps. Sort out the problem by using another, brand new email account. There is a slim possibility that your email account originates with a business or organization that blocks WeChat’s email. Alternatively, perhaps WeChat can’t send the email because of the country you are in. The process works perfectly unless there is some other element involved, one that doesn’t involve WeChat or normal email accounts. Beyond that, it’s up to you to figure out what’s wrong. Your right it isn’t rocket science but I tried 5 different emails that I know work. I tried a brand new email account. I have two wechat ID’s and two phones, so on the new phone that uses my old wechat account, I linked an email, worked perfect. On the same new phone I signed out of the old wechat account that worked and then switched to the other new wechat account. Tried to link email and experienced the same issue I was experiencing on the old phone. I even unlinked the email that worked on the old wechat account and then tried to use that same email in the other new wechat account. No luck. Before I unlinked it, I tried the email that worked and got an error message that made sense “that email is being used by another ID” – something along those lines.
Look, I’m sorry if I came across negative. What is happening makes no sense at all and I’m just really frustrated. What I am most frustrated about is wechat in general. I love the app. I hate that you can’t delete an account and so far customer service is non-existent. I just find with the new account I just created it’s frustrating that I can’t link an email to it. I only created the new wechat account last night – maybe I’m not able to link an email yet, maybe it’s too soon. Who knows.
We sensed your frustration so we didn’t come down too hard on you. It seems that you’ve eliminated all the possible problems. Your efforts are, more or less, a troubleshooting flowchart. The problem seems to be with the account, not the phone or your various email accounts. Narrow it down a bit. Can you use your new account at all? What did you use to sign up for that WeChat account? You must have used a phone number, Facebook, QQ or an email address, right? On your old phone, what else are you using in the way of helper apps with WeChat. There is a chance that your old phone has malware that intercepted your WeChat application and it is preventing you from verifying an email account. Start from scratch again. Register for a new WeChat account using the email that you want to verify with your other account. See if that works. If you just signed up yesterday, you’re not losing anything by starting fresh. Your problem sounds like a one in a million hangup but you’ve proven that it’s not your new phone or WeChat. It’s something to do with your old phone and the registration. I have connected my Facebook to we chat as above, but my moments are not sharing on Facebook. When i go into Facebook settings , i do not see we chat in the app list.
From what we can see, Facebook won’t allow WeChat to post your Moments on Facebook. If you go to Settings on Facebook then Apps then to WeChat, you’ll see a list of things that WeChat can post on your behalf, Moments not being one of them. We’ve tried several times to work this out but nothing has worked so far. Usually there is a way to share your posts before you post them but we can only see Public on WeChat. Pressing that brings up a menu to specify which contacts can see that particular Moment. We suspect that the problem is with Facebook, not with WeChat. If you find a way to do this, let us know. You have to unlink your current email and/or phone number before you can link a new one. WeChat won’t allow you to be without a verification avenue, whether it is email or phone. If you forget your password or login, WeChat has to have a way to contact you. WeChat won’t let you link to an email account if there is already an email account linked to your profile. You can’t unlink the current email unless you have a verified phone number. Alternatively, you can’t change your phone number until you unlink your current number. We hope this helps. We’ve tried to change our phone number too. It doesn’t work. After WeChat sends the code to our new number, it kicks back with an error message on the screen. We’ve tried entering our current number and our new number. Nothing happens when we use our current phone number. For the new one, we get an error message. The system seems to be broken somewhere. Delete/block all of your contacts, delete the app and stop using it. Alternatively, screen cap your contact list, then delete everyone and open a new account then add the contacts you would like to keep. Which phone number did you use to register WeChat? Is that number still yours? You can only have one phone number per WeChat account. If you used another number to register, you cannot use a new number to change your password. You can change your phone number, yes, but you have to be logged into your account. See what we mean? Have you linked your WeChat to an email address? QQ? There are several ways to recover your password but it looks like your phone number has changed so try something else. If he is asleep, you might be safe. However if he has logged out on one device, he may have logged in on another and he would know immediately if you logged into his account. You’d also have to know how many devices he uses to access WeChat. We hope this helps but there isn’t a solution that is foolproof. Besides, he may have more than one profile, right? Cannot link weChat to facebook. Shows successfully linked but still shows Not Linked on the “My Account”. Already tried few times and still the same.
The problem seems to be between Facebook and WeChat, something about the API setup. That’s the only thing that we can think of that would cause this. Even if the two were connected, you can’t do interact with Facebook anyway, other than maybe adding contacts. There may be a fee dispute or Facebook is leery of a Chinese company getting access to its users, we’re not sure. Don’t worry about it. We don’t think it’s a big loss anyway.

That’s a good question. We had one account linked to Facebook but didn’t see anything posted there, same as your experience. We’ll add link another WeChat account with another Facebook profile and see what happens. Once we can get it to work, we’ll post here again. If not, then we suspect that it has something to do with Facebook since WeChat is a Chinese app and residents of Mainland China cannot access Facebook. Let us work on it and we’ll get back to you. There doesn’t seem to be a way to ‘unlink’ WeChat from Facebook. You should be able to go to Settings then My Account then Facebook then Unlink, just as you can with Google + and QQ but that does not appear on our devices. As a matter of fact, on our Android, there is nothing about Facebook while on our Apple iPod, there is. You can try to email Tencent Inc. On the iPod, we see a notice that the you only enable sharing on your wall, nothing about importing Facebook contacts. If you can find the ‘unlink’ section, use that. Good luck! Make sure you have Facebook installed and that you are signed in to your account. Then go to Me, Settings, General then Features. Facebook should be right under Shake, at least it is on our iPod Touch. We don’t have an iPhone to test but the device we have should be the same. Other than that, we can’t help you. Good luck!

Hopefully she’s given you some clues. If she hasn’t, there is no way to link a WeChat user to a Facebook account unless that person is already your friend on Facebook.
